Basically trying to avoid cases where you've got roads on both sides of any single building. If you have an odd size building, say 3x3 instead of just 2x2, then you can use something small to fill in the gap, like a water tower or other small specialisation. Anyways I expand this pattern away from the highway as I open up new city areas. ![]() I may still get rid of the last set of roads between my perpendicular road and the mountain to make a 2x18 big block. I used to have city blocks that were 2x4 or 2x4.5 residential buildings big, but I ended up getting rid of some sets of roads so that now I have one block going from my main perpendicular road towards the beach that is 2圆 buildings big and 2 blocks that are 2x9 buildings big going towards the mountain. Have as few roads parallel to your main perpendicular road as possible. And just have one single main road perpendicular to the highway that all your parallel roads come off of. And then keep all your roads parallel to the highway 4 squares apart, or 2 regular size residential buildings. Start with buildings closest to the highway and then your first road just inside of that. This would mean having to bulldoze most of your roads and move things around though. ![]() The less roads you have, the more space you have for buildings and specialisations to boost your population. Personally I would suggest being more efficient with your roads to start.
